Sage Industry & Technology News

SAGE is an InfoComm Emerald Level Solutions Provider

    Good morning!

I'm joining the SAGE sales team specifically to support higher education. I've been in this field for over 20 years, and have previously represented both Panasonic and JP Lilley as Sales Manager. I've spent considerable amounts of time on advising committees in schools and universities. Most recently, these have included PEPPM, Dauphin County Vo-Tech, and PSU-Capital Area Institute of Mathematics and Science. In short, I am prepared to help you!

Today's technology can blur the line between home and work, sometimes for the better. In this month's eNewsletter, you can see the efforts of two companies — Qwizdom and Crestron — to reuse the devices we use in our free time. With the Qwizdom Q6, students can put text-message habits towards their education. Similarly, Crestron's free applications can use 2010's hot new thing, the Apple iPad, for media control at your office, school or hospital. To learn about similar solutions, or to find new ways to simplify the technology in your life, please call me at 717.653.6641.

Make a splash with new Qwizdom Q6

Make a splash with new Qwizdom Q6

The Q6 student remote is Qwizdom's greatest leap towards full classroom collaboration. Like the Q5, it supports text input, replicating a major form of communication for the PlayStation generation. (SAGE is currently howling for T9 support to mimic mobile text-messaging even more closely, and Qwizdom is looking into it).

While the Q6 unit maintains the affordability of the Q4, it's got a bigger screen and additional premade curriculum slides. What does this mean for your classroom? It means that whether you present questions on paper, on-screen or out loud, your students can enter responses with even more familiarity than you have, allowing easier lesson management and greater anonymity. If students need help, they can let you know without risking embarrassment or falling behind. And when they succeed, you'll record their triumphs instantly. Just don't try to use it underwater.

  • 2-way RF technology based on 802.15.4 IEEE standard
  • Large LCD display with right/wrong feedback capability
  • Text questions display on screen
  • Up to 100 meter range and 1,000 remotes per host
  • Dimensions: 6 x 13.2 x 2.5 (cm) (WxHxD)
  • Software integration with PowerPoint® (Actionpoint), Keynote® (Mactionpoint), and Qwizdom Connect authoring software
  • Works with hundreds of thousands of premade curriculum resource slides
  • Question options include: Multiple Mark, Numeric, Sequencing, Rating Scale, Yes/No, Numeric (including fractions, decimals, and mixed expressions), Multiple Choice, True/False, Text Input, and Text Edit.
  • 2 AA batteries—last a full year in typical usage
